The last week has felt like a rollercoaster again. A really positive one though! The number of comments and emails I received as feedback for Part 1 of the Garden of Roses Square was really overwhelming! Thank you soooo much!
Part 2 will now celebrate Sophie’s Universe with its beautiful rose stitches
Garden of Roses Granny Square Part 2- Free Pattern
You’ll need:
- DK cotton yarn (Cascade Ultra Pima in Natural, Buff, Sage and Purple Ice)
- 4 mm hook
Abbreviations
ch= chain
sc= single crochet (US term); double crochet (dc, UK term)
st= stitch(es)
hdc = half double crochet (US term); half treble crochet (htr, UK term)
bphdc = backpost half double crochet (US term); backpost half treble crochet (bphtr, UK term)
fphdc = frontpost half double crochet (US term); frontpost half treble crochet (fphtr UK term)
In my patterns UK terms are always given in brackets.
Special stitches:
Leave: see Dedri’s original pattern here
Rose: see Dedri’s original pattern here
Cluster: 3dctog (3 double crochet together (US term); 3 treble crochet together (UK term)
V-st (V-stitch): dc (tr) ch1 dc (tr) in same st
Tip: If you’re an intermediate crocheter I would recommend starting off with standing stitches rather than ch-stitches at the beginning of the rounds to achieve a neater finish.

Beautiful. Would love to try this one.
This is gorgeous! Thank you so much
It really is lovely, such gorgeous colour choices. x
I love the colours on this. As (mainly) a knitter, you’re inspiring to think about pulling my crochet hooks from out the back of the cupboard. So thank you – and also for the very generous terms of use.
It’s beautiful. I give it a try.
Thank you for sharing this beauty with us
Your Garden of Roses is beautiful especially the colours.
This is absolutely gorgeous! Will try it next month as I’m trying to concentrate on writing this month. I love the colors and the design is beautiful. Thanks for the pattern.
Thank you so much! This is my favorite design ever!
I just came across your Garden of Roses patterns 1 & 2. They are beautiful, but I noticed they are from May. Is it possible to get the rest of the patterns? I would love to make this my next project.
Thanks for your help.
Patty

That is soo amazingly beautiful!! Lovely work!
It seems there is something missing as there are no clusters made into Row 14 for :-
Round 16: ch1 sc (dc) in any corner space, sc in same space, *sc in backloop only in next 5 st, [Leaves, skip 2 st, sc in backloop next st], 3 times sc in backloop of remaining 4 st, 2 sc (dc) ch1 2 sc (dc) in corner space*, 4 times, omitting the last 2 sc (dc) join
Hi Julie, I’m not sure I understand you right. Do you mean the leave stitch? You can find a link to the description on top of the post. As this is taken from Dedris pattern I only linked that bit up rather than described it in detail. Hope that helps! :)
I would love to use this as the center square for the ATB CAL. Do you know how many stitches per side you end up with?
