It’s Tuesday, which means that it’s CAL time again :) As I told you last week I joined a CAL and the first square was soo much fun! Was hard to wait for the second one. I must say Kimberly did a great job again in choosing a pattern for week 2. Even though the square is classed by the designer Melinda Miller as intermediate, I would say it’s more like an advanced beginner. The only really special stitch in this square is the popcorn stitch, so when you’re able to do that one you’ll be more than fine with this square. Anyways for everyone who wants to join the CAL, it’s still not too late to say hello to the Official CCC Social Group on Facebook, they’ll get you all the info you need and also post the pattern of the week every weekend (and they’re are a lovely bunch of people who help you with all crochet related questions, so even if you don’t want to join the CAL it’s worth joining the group!).
Week 2 Popcorn Parade
The pattern of the week is Popcorn Parade by Melinda Miller
You’ll need:
- 5 mm hook
- yarn”cake” of your choice ( I used Stylecraft Special DK in denim, meadow and parchment for my square)
Finished size:
like last weeks square 10 by 10 inches.
If you want to follow my colour palette here is a little list of my colour choices, I also did some minor amendments to the pattern (see round 3):
Started off with Magic Ring
Round 1: Parchment
Round 2: Denim
Round 3: Parchment, I skipped only 2 dc’s and made an additional sc instead (so I ended up with 16 sc’s instead of 8)
Round 4: Denim (Isn’t this an AMAZING flower? Think I’m going to make this flower again :))
Round 5: Parchment
Round 6: Parchment
Round 7: Meadow
Round 8: Meadow
Round 9: Meadow
Round 10: Parchment (ohhhh makes a lovely square already here :)
Round 11: Meadow
Round 12: Parchment
Round 13: Meadow
Round 14: Parchment
I would love to see how your square turned out so please feel free to link your end result to the CALs Flickr group or post it onto the CAL groups page.

These blocks are so pretty! I think I might have to join in this CAL. I love how you show the photos of each step. It really helps beginners like me because I can ‘see’ exactly what it should be like. Love your blog :-D
Thank you soo much! :) :) Yes you def have to join the CAL. You’ll learn a lot during the year and even though it might be challenging there is always someone to help you :) x
